Roch Voisine

The Tragically Hip accepted the honor and paid tribute to Gord Downie, who passed away from brain cancer in twenty seventeen.

Along with The Hip, indie artist Feist, the writing duo of Loverboy, and French-Canadian Roch Voisine were also inducted.

The gala was held at Massey Hall in Toronto.

If you haven't listened yet, today on The Big Story, can we prevent El Niño's four hundred and fifty-one thousand extra deaths? Host Maria Kastane is speaking with Genevieve Mariakl, the Executive Director of the Climate Impact Lab, about where these four hundred and fifty-one thousand deaths could come from, how much of the problem has to do with infrastructure rather than temperature, and what emergency preparedness could look like.

Now, he's got a new album honoring another iconic Canadian, and he's being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

We'll sit down with Roch Voisine after the break.

You've heard the chaos.

More than 16,000 residents, businesses, and other stakeholders helped create the plan.

Well, he's an award-winning singer and songwriting in both of Canada's official languages.

And this weekend, Roch Voisine will receive another honor, being inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

This afternoon, I got the chance to speak to him about the honor and his career.

Gordon Renny is our technical director and operations manager.

But, like, what's too long a handshake? If you meet somebody, Roch Voisine's coming in here.

If he holds your hand for eight seconds, you're, you're- That's too long.

Right.
