Robin Ince

I've seen her do characters.

I've seen her do stuff she's sort of written that morning in the weird sort of Robin Ince gigs we used to do together.

And I just think she's so at home on stage.

It's like where she's meant to be.

Ah, that's the Owen Jones.

So it wasn't Robin Ince in

the end? No, it was always going to be Owen Jones for London.

Robin, I think, is supposed to be doing some of the out-of-town stuff.

But...

even what we haven't put up there yet, which I did actually with another of your guests, with Robin, Robin Ince, is we did a commentary on a pilot that I made in Los Angeles based on The Young Ones called Oh No, Not Them.

And we're showing that.

Nobody's ever seen it, but I found it.

And Robin and I have done a commentary on it, and that should be coming out shortly oh

i'm gonna have a look at this this sounds wonderful and to find you uh on patreon and at bandcamp they just look for nigel planer

yeah yeah perfect lovely thank you facebook i've got a facebook as well actually i forgot about that i don't do facebook but i've got a mate who who uh who runs a facebook page for me it's called i think it's called official official nigel planer or something like that official nigel planer Lovely.

Yeah.

And I'll also be performing on the Friday night, um, in Robin Ince's Nine Lessons in December.

I think it's the first or second week of December.

So yeah, you can catch me there.

That didn't last long, did it? [laughs] But it's not coming out, it's not coming out-

It's the Robin Ince of podcasts.

It is, really.

[laughs]

the 10 and a half hour documentary that is the feature of today's episode.

This is a documentary made by the great Trent Burton who runs an organization called Cosmic Shambles with Robin Ince and it's an absolutely wonderful organization.

I've done a lot of work for them over the years and of course have been a regular collaborator of Robin's for the best part of 20 years now.

So yeah, I know those guys extremely well and I'm going to let Trent explain how the whole thing kind of came about.

Enjoy!

I am Trent Burton.

I co-founded the Cosmic Shambles Network with Robin Ince, who I'm guessing viewers of this podcast will know.

Yeah, we founded the network maybe, I don't know, 12 or so years ago.

And so we thought on the opening night of the festival, the very first event we did in the forest was a panel about the last 20 years in scientific discovery.

What were some of the big stories in the world of science in the last 20 years? And what might they be or what are our hopes for the next 20? Robin Ince is your host and he is joined by Professor Helen Chersky, Dr.

Clara Nellist, Professor Chris Jackson and Professor Thierry King.

Now, the ability to record and release these podcasts from Latitude and everything we do at Shambles Really is all down to your support on Patreon and Substack.

Like, oh, there's loads of people out there that they didn't know about.

And it was genuinely like Robin Ince did a poem today about proud dad.

And yeah, I absolutely felt that.

Yeah, I love Real Man.
