What else are we talking about?

Since we're talking about Rob Trujillo, I think I have an interesting transition point off of that, because on Friday last week, I went to a concert.

It was the Slayer Rain and Blood 40th anniversary, where they played the entire album in full.

That was cool.

I don't know very much about Suicidal Tendencies, but the bassist up there was a very young-looking kid.

He was out of place with the older 50-year-old dudes jumping around doing all that shit.

Turns out that's Rob Trujillo's son.

He's like 22.

And he comes from a blue-collar family.

Robert Trujillo also worked with his hands.

He's built houses before and all of that.

So It's in the DNA of what the guys are about primarily.

The tension reflected a broader debate whether evolution or purity mattered more to punk's identity.

The mid-1990s edition of bassist Robert Trujillo, later known for Metallica, gave the rhythm section a tighter, funk-driven groove.

His presence bridged punk's rawness with technical proficiency, making live shows feel both ferocious and polished.

Suicidal's relentless road, tripping using a battered Ford Transit and DIY buskers, connected them with scenes from Orange County to Seattle.

I think he's the best backing vocal that Metallica's ever had as a bass player.

The time he took with the fans was... uh just you know and he was such he was a fan and he was a fan that got the greatest gig in the world to play with his favorite band and he killed it and i love jason newsted and then you got rob trujillo who is a absolute beast and i really think he's kind of like he brings the the best of what both those guys brought like you know he plays with his fingers and attacks the base the way kurt does uh the way i'm sorry the way cliff did uh but he also brings that infectious energy the way jason did and i think uh rob is the perfect bass player uh it's hard to pick my favorite i mean i got into playing the bass when metallica was you know was when Jason Newsted was in the band.

So I really, really gravitated towards him.

But it's an impossible question to answer, man.

Wasn't the son of Robert Trujillo, the Metallica bassist, wasn't he playing bass with somebody cool? Maybe Metallica.

I think he might have said it.

I feel like, yeah, I think he

did a show with Metallica.

Is it Robert Trujillo? Yeah.

Okay.

Because there's a

Um, You Can't Bring Me Down is one of the best album openers of all time, and it just doesn't dip from there, the quality of this record.

Uh, Rob Trujillo came in on bass on this record, and he brought, like, that funk side to his playing.

Like, tracks like, on tracks like Lovely, uh, Send Me Your Money and, and tunes like that, where it, it's, it's the same thing you said earlier, Def.

There's a little bit of, like, tongue in cheek sense of humor about this-

and in the like lobby area for the hotel, there was like all these famous to bass players, like bass players there.

So it was like, you know, did you see like Michael Mandarin's there and Steve Lawson and like Robert Trujillo shows up for a bit.

And then, you know, like I was there with like, like freak bass and stuff.

And then there's like all these people just like all these like incredible bass players just sat in the lobby, just all hanging out.

yeah but um but i guess that sort of takes you roughly through you know and where we only went up to the 90s which leaves a big 26 year hole but um but now kind of aria are producing a lot of stuff out of indonesia still premium stuff out of japan which is very very good but of course now comes with the price tag of being made by master luthiers in japan yeah And of course, the great thing is now Indonesian stuff is really good.

So they've introduced like a full line of everything that they used to do, but kind of new, expansive, different stuff as well.

And when it comes to the SP stuff, the SB stuff, they released a Cliff Burton signature model, which Robert Trujillo is playing like intermittently.
