Robert Moran

Our story begins in 1875.

An 18-year-old named Robert Moran arrived in Seattle carrying exactly 10 cents.

Not $10, 10 cents.

He'd left New York City during one of America's worst economic depressions.

It employed maybe 10 people.

Nobody could have guessed it would eventually become one of the greatest shipyards in the Pacific Coast.

In 1888, at only 31 years old, Robert Moran became mayor of Seattle.
