I moved into the Blackrock, Mahon area in 2018 and there was no athletics club here.

And I spent most of the kids' lives coming up and down to Ringman and, you know, driving up and down when I was living in Douglas.

And there's such a huge catchment area.

So we set up the club.

I said, make it Cork City AC, the heart of Cork, the base in our own Parque Cuivre, the marina, which is the most, like, not only in Cork, if you ever listen to my podcast with Laura Red Raw, I always go on about the marina saying, I think it's one of the most beautiful places in the world.

But there's a level for everybody to find.

Our marathon, our marathon for 2027 is already full, Rob.

Y- yeah.

And look, uh, it's, it's gas, 'cause I see it now, um, and it's huge.

But I've always felt that way about athletics and about running or walking or getting out, moving, and it's, like, going.

I felt I was 30 years ahead of the world, you know? And it's massive now, and, uh, I, I just think it's such a positive...

It's a positive thing to do, and I really reiterate that in the club as well.

I always try to let the kids remember, how do you feel after you've exercised? You know, you're not into phones.

But there's a level for everybody to find.

How did these lads even get to sleep before a big match like that?

But you do, I always remember, I remember just you saying that.

I remember being up at the, there was a gathering of all of the Irish Olympic team before Beijing in 2008.

And he invited Erki Newell over from Estonia.

And Erki, six foot five, the chiseled statue was off him.

He was a beautiful man.
