Robert Estienne

The Bible didn't have verses numbers, right? Chapters had only recently been introduced by Stephen Langton, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

And verses wouldn't arrive for another 300 years when a printer called Robert Estienne added them in 1545.

So Hugh's team split every chapter into seven roughly equal chunks and then labeled them A to G. just so they had an address to point at.

That's a concordance.
