How could have somebody like Sergio, Larry Scott, let's say, Sergio Leiva, Arnold, Nubre, then you have other greats like Zayn, Albert Beckles, Robbie Robinson, and all these guys, Tom Platz, and even later, Lee Haney.
N

So anyways, it wasn't until I was 17 years old that I actually started working out on a regular basis.
A

Warrior would move to California and he would see a bodybuilder by the name of Robbie Robinson and he decided to take up the sport.
A
11:31AndrewHOST
His first contest would take place in Florida where he placed fifth.
A
11:35AndrewHOST
Now, Robbie Robinson, if you don't know who he is, what I can tell you is that he competed in the Mr. Olympia contest back in the 70s and the dude was freaking jacked.
A
11:46AndrewHOST
I actually saw a TikTok video of this guy, or maybe it was a YouTube video, and he was on a podcast.
A
11:52AndrewHOST
And for being in the 70s, I mean, he's still in pretty decent shape.
A
11:57AndrewHOST
I mean, he's not jacked like he was 50 years ago, but if you get a chance, look up Robbie Robinson on the internet or look him up on YouTube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Later on, while Warrior, he would go on to attend Life University in Marietta, Georgia.

well i'll tell you what's fun about this dude is i think probably a lot of people go through it i don't know if you went through it but like as i sort of like hitting close to 40 and hit 40 kind of you know it's like well dude you know i'm getting over the hill like you start thinking it's like i'm on the downside of this stuff well then i just decided like i'm gonna revert this man like every year i'm gonna make it a challenge to be in the best shape of my life so i'm gonna be 45 in two weeks right october 15th so then it's like okay my mission is to be a 45 being the best shape of my life then 46 best shape of my life i was talking to my wife about this and i'm like man it gives me something to look forward to or no i don't i look forward to aging now like i look at like a Like a Robbie Robinson, you know, right? Or like, I want to be that, not that I want to fast forward and be 80, but I'm like, dude, I want to be that dude that's 80 that just blows everybody's mind of the shape that you're in.
J
6:46Joshua SmithHOST
And it's like the fact that, you know, I'm going to be 45, you know, but I run circles around, like I got three teenagers and, you know, all their friends and boyfriends that are 18, 19, you know, whatever.
J
6:56Joshua SmithHOST
And it's like, you know, I don't know, just at least for me, it gives me a goal and gives me something to greatly look forward to.

There are two bodybuilders featured in the book and the film who compete in the mystery universe, the amateur, Robbie Robinson and Ken Waller.

They both do really well.
L

I mean, Ken Waller wins the damn thing.

They both do really well in it.
L

They would both go on to step up into the Mr. Olympia contest and both become Mr. Olympia's.
L

Robbie Robinson did it twice, actually, in 77 and 78.
L
25:12LukeHOST
Ken Waller did it the year before in 76.

And in many ways, they advocated for Like, for example, minority groups, like, like Black athletes doing well, and I really don't wanna paint it that Joe and Ben Weider were, like, progressive, you know, figures in, in kind of our modern context, and there's, you know, Robbie Robinson bust-

But they saw that you really couldn't win a Mr. America title, I think.
