Rite of passage

And then when you do re-enter back into the group, then you're seen as... a new member of the group almost, right? Your old identity is gone.

You have a new identity in this.

So him and some other people, the other guy, Victor Turner, they argued that like doing away with those rites of passages or those rituals around, you know, transitions in our lives, that's coming at a great detriment to us.

There's no clear, okay, you were this thing, now you need to be this thing.

And you have to commit to that new thing.

That's an aspirational album.

We talk about rites of passage.

We talk about, you know, wanting to go to college like we talked about.

My family values around college is not an option.

I have Johanna Reamer, a soul-centric educator, ceremonialist, and mentor to girls and the women who guide them.

I mean, I'm like, please tell me everything you know.

That's always a question that I have when I'm traveling and learning about birth culture all over the world.

I'm always asking about the rites of passage or if there's any kind of honoring of the first bleed or bleeds in general, you know, throughout.

And then also like menopause, the whole spectrum of

Yeah, yeah.

So a vision quest is a rite of passage.

And rites of passage have taken place around the world.

across cultures and throughout time.

And they look different in a lot of ways, but they have the same arc.

And then you take what you learned, what you felt, what you realized and recognized, what you remembered, what you were able to hear again in that threshold after the severance.

And you take that and then you bring that to your people.

And the vision quest or these rites of passage, they were never about the individual.
