Can you walk us through how you designed this study and why this data set was particularly well-suited for answering this question?

Rita VoughtGUEST
So our study was a case control design, and we had over 11,000 patients who had an acute ischemic ocular event, which we define as having an RGO or amaurosis event.

Rita VoughtGUEST
Um, this data was aggregated from Truveta, which captures patient encounters across the United States and also includes longitudinal data on them.

Rita VoughtGUEST
And our primary outcome of interest was whether or not they had an ischemic stroke or TIA within one year.

Rita VoughtGUEST
In terms of identifying the events, we did that using the ICD-10 codes and then further refined it.

Rita VoughtGUEST
For example, we required patients to have adequate follow-up encounters and also repetition of the same ICD-10 codes, um, in subsequent encounters.

What are some of the advantages of using a dataset like Truvada compared to a prior, smaller, or limited studies? How might these datasets actually shape the future of research?
