And because of that hazard, any facility operating an ammonia refrigeration system is subject to incredibly strict, burdensome regulatory frameworks.

Specifically, they must comply with OSHA's Process Safety Management standards, known as PSM, and the EPA's Risk Management Plan, or RMP.

And I imagine those aren't cheap or easy to deal with.

Not at all.

It leads right back to the regulatory and safety burden.
