Ripple in Time

He doesn't tow the normal you know road and that takes a lot of guts and that's why i respect him so much

yeah we're talking about jeff lee johnson and and uh we're going to get into a track which is from george duke's deja vu record ripple in time and and uh you know one thing that's cool if you go to george duke's website he has uh personal antidotes about each record on there and um you know tell us about jeff uh particularly on ripple in time and what he added to this this particular song

Well, I wanted to do a tribute to Miles, you know, because I had a real good relationship with Miles.

And, you know, towards the latter part of his life, he kept calling me to write him a song.

write me a tune?

You know, so, you know, I wanted to do a tribute to him.

And Ripple in Time was kind of my tribute to him on this record.

And it was a later period where he kind of got a little funky, but it still had that other thing going on top of this beat.
