Ripley

Next, Fremantle appointed Sharon Levy as head of the Americas and Australia starting January 2027.

She's the former CEO of Endemol Shine North America, with her work spanning MasterChef, Lego Masters, Ripley, and Like Water For Chocolate.

And this comes as American Idol is planning on leaving LA for Georgia, with shows like AGT considering the same.

So it'll be interesting to see what she does with the company.

Hm.

Um, the, the TV show Ripley on Netflix.

It's-

Mm

... it's a retelling of, um, The Talented Mr. Ripley with Andrew Scott as a lead.

It's in black and white.

It's like a miniseries, or a limited series-

Shout out Netflix, I guess.

Okay, so House of Cards, yeah, was in that.

Any others? Yeah, what else has Netflix done that's been really big? I mean, Ripley, it's Ripley though, it should be.

No. It's great.

I know we would.

I don't know.

Yeah, she wrote Talented Mr. Ripley.

Oh, really? So this is based on a true story? I don't

think she's murdered anyone, but I think it's like...

Just so you know, I wasn't a murderer.

I just wrote about them.

Also, why is there so much Ripley stuff out there? I feel like this is the third Ripley thing I feel like I've seen in the past year or so.

Like a real Ripley revival going on.

Yes.

You made the people who played Ripley.

Yes.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Uh, of course, Dakota is an award-winning actor.

I Am Sam, Ripley, War of the Worlds, my very favorite, what's the-

Man on Fire?

Man on Fire.

Number three, I May Destroy You, which was also on this list, and a fantastic miniseries.

At number two, a show that didn't make the list at all, but I think is one of the best things Netflix has ever made, Ripley, which is, of course, the Andrew Scott version of the talented Mr. Ripley.

Yeah, so good.

So fantastic.

That would've been my first in.

Uh, Ripley, uh, Steve Zaillian's Netflix series-

Oh, hell yeah

... from a couple years ago.

I mean, it's neck and neck.

I mean, it's funny because this does feel like a sort of peak for her, even though we have like Ripley coming up, which is my favorite.

Like we have we have good stuff on the horizon, but it is all kind of downhill after her Oscar win for her in many ways.

Like I think she would in her own way acknowledge that.

But that was the first time, yeah, I really kind of formed a connection with her as an actor.

And of course, I've revisited a lot of her earlier work.

um, since then, like talented Mr. Ripley, which I was not watching as an eight year old, you know? Um, but I, yeah, that was kind of my first connection with her.

And I think, um, yeah, it's kind of our relationship has broadened over time.
