Yeah, so we are currently, you know, you can see that rip current forecast low, moderate, high, but what exactly is a rip current? We talk about this often, and I still to this day have trouble identifying rip currents in the ocean.

Even when I am in a really tall, you know, hotel and have that bird's eye view of a rip current, it's hard to identify in the ocean for me.

But Miller has the explanation of a rip current.

And I was, you know, once I had that realization, I knew I needed to take a step back and step out and take a break from the water.

And that's completely okay to do.

and also a side note these rip currents are very fast in fact faster than an olympic swimmer eight feet per second and you can feel it kind of tug you along and that's what i just felt it was pulling me away in a way but that's just a very important thing to know especially when people are going out and about to the beaches that may not know about rip currents just it's a deceptive thing people don't realize the water looks fine but it actually is very dangerous you can see here on our rip current risk categories right now all the beaches are at low risk here in south carolina and georgia they're unlikely but still could occur so it's safe to enter the water with a lifeguard present and then avery we start to get the moderate and high risks

yeah that's right and so these also are kind of similar to our flags so if you think about beach flags you have green flag kind of compare that to gray there's a low risk of it happening, but it always could happen, right? Yellow flag is really when those waves start to kick up just a hair and it's a little bit more choppy.
