Rio Grande National Forest

Colorado wildlife officials say a bad year for bears just intensified.

In the first of two separate incidents just days apart, a black bear bit a woman through her tent at a Colorado campground in the Rio Grande National Forest.

Then on Sunday, another bear approached a slightly open window in Durango, ripped off the screen, and made its way into a 17-year-old girl's bedroom, where it scratched her as she hid underneath the blankets.

Both victims treated for minor injuries.

And this is not just Tennessee, by the way.

In Colorado, wildlife officials counted 10 bear attacks by mid-September, including a woman bitten through the wall of her tent at a campground in the Rio Grande National Forest.

Your RV and your tow vehicle or towed doors, windows, do not leave anything that smells like food in the car, including empty wrappers and coolers.
