I know you've won a number of awards that you hold what's often called the Alternative Nobel Prize.

That's a right livelihood laureate.

Congratulations on that.

In 2008 to 2009, she served as senior advisor on water to the president of the United Nations General Assembly, and was a leader in the successful campaign to have water recognized as a human right by the United Nations.

She is the recipient of 17 honorary doctorates and many awards, including the 2005 Right Livelihood Award, which is often called the Alternative Nobel.

Barlow is the author of 21 books and dozens of reports on water, ecology, globalization, and the commons.
