with that said uh today we are going to be talking about the 2013 movie Riddick currently the last Riddick movie they are there's like I think since like 2015 they've been talking about making a fourth one but

okay who knows I don't know

we'll see But it was written and directed by David Twahy and, of course, stars Vin Diesel, along with Carl Urban, Katie Sackhoff, a couple other people that I don't really know, honestly.

It was a really fun watch.

I highly recommend, if you haven't seen it yet, to go watch it.

I'll rate this probably, in the Riddick series, the highest out of the three.

Really? Yeah.

Uh, another one, maybe a little bit slightly newer.

Did you ever play Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay?

Almost the entire game in one sitting.

Isn't...

Yeah, it was definitely a game changer.

There was like before and after, and then everything else.

Like, because you went slow, it was dark, um, and it was based off a property that was okay at the time, but it wasn't, you know, Riddick was never that big.

Right.

You guys remember that one with Vin Diesel?

Was that a Riddick

movie? Yes, it was like the original Riddick.

Yeah, absolutely.

I don't know if I'd go back and find out that it does not slap at all.

But yeah, other than all the fun things, what are we reviewing

today? Today, we are going to be talking about the 2004 movie, The Chronicles of Riddick.

It was directed by David Twahy, written by Twahy, Jim Wheat, and Ken Wheat, and stars Vin Diesel, Judy Dench, Tandiwe Newton, Carl Urban.

Lots of fun people.

I think that was actually why we were talking about last time.

Vin Diesel, like, made a deal so that he could have the rights to the Riddick character, and I think that's because of this movie, because the second movie did not do very well, and so I think...

Did I say Universal? Who made this film? I think it's, yeah, Universal Pictures were, like, not really interested in continuing to make more, but Vin Diesel was like, well, I want to make more.

Yeah, you're right.

What am I supposed to say now? We could be able to salvage Riddick.

We had some problems with our Riddicks.

They were able to salvage Riddick.

Yeah.

Oh, yeah.

Okay, okay, cool.

Yeah, we should just keep doing that then.

There are, I think they said 40 people on board.

And one of them is a prisoner named Riddick, which is Vin Diesel's character.

And he is being transported by someone named...

Ooh.

And she tells everyone else to leave.

And he ends up dying.

And then Johns goes to check on Riddick and finds out that he's escaped.

Mm-hmm.

so Ghostbusters obviously we'll put it on this giant pedestal over here and every now and again we'll sort of look back and just bow at it reverently yeah but I feel like this is going to be three hours long if we talk about everything that we love about that original movie so let's get on to the far lesser sequels Ghostbusters 2 took five years to come out yeah as weirdly and and there's a lot of parallels uh between this and another movie men in black 2 um ghostbusters 2 is the men in black 2 of the ghostbusters series as black 2 is the ghostbusters 2 of the men in black series um but the as and neither of those are the too fast too furious because you know what too

fast too furious has a lot of merit um too fast too furious is how Vin Diesel got back the rights to the Riddick character as well so that's for me that's absolutely fine no problem with too

fast too furious so Ghostbusters 2 basically came out they wanted to replicate that success because again like Ghostbusters was a cultural phenomenon I mean It wasn't just the movie.

It was the merchandise.

it, it reminds me of the [laughs] yeah, it reminds me of the things from, uh, Pitch Black, you know, the first Riddick film, where they're all blind, but they use sonar.

So, like, if you stand right in front of you-

I mean...

As Richard B. Riddick? Fucking amazing.

As Dom fucking from Fast and Furious? Pretty good.

As Xander Cage? No.
