Rick Rescorla

These are women who were pregnant with their little babies, and their husbands at home never saw them or their unborn child, all because of Islam.

And there's this one guy, his name is Rick Rescorla, and he was the head of security for Morgan Stanley.

And he was at Morgan Stanley at the World Trade Center when the 1993 attack happened, and he implemented fire drills, evacuation drills.

He had this megaphone.

Those are the stories that you don't hear about when you've got douchebags like this little loser screaming "Allahu Akbar" today.

He's getting all of the notoriety today.

But Rick Rescorla saved [chuckles] over 2,500 people because he didn't listen to everybody else, and he got them all out safely.

There's another woman I wanna talk to you about.

But I will tell you, it was the worst day for America, but it brought out the best in America.

And I look back at all of that and I just hope that if I'm ever faced a crisis like that, I want to be in a world full of men like Todd Beamer and Rick Rescorla-

You know who's good at their job? I learned today of Rick Rescorla.

I don't know if that name rings a bell.

Maybe we heard about it from the same person.

This is what I was going to bring up, but since you have what we were saying just a second ago, I almost got through 9-11 without crying for the first time, but I didn't make it.

So, Stephen, please tell us about Rick Rescorla.

Um, Rick Rescorla, uh, the guy you see ...

If you see the, the cover of the book We Were Soldiers Once and Young, the soldier on many of those editions, that's Rick Rescorla, and he was the, um- He's the vi- VP of security for, um, one of the brokerages, and because of his SF background, he was always wary.

He knew the buildings were a target.

In '93, when they tried to blow it up from the basement, he brought a friend of his and he said, "Okay, how would you do it?" And he made the, uh, the employees, I'm sure he was very unpopular, but he made them practice evacuating the building.

I had heard about this man.

This guy's name was Richard Rescorla.

He was born in the UK.

He was a Brit.

And this picture on the front of an American GI with his weapon...

In front of him, bayonet fixed, ready for combat, was none other than Richard Rescorla, the same guy who died helping people out of Morgan Stanley.

So I learned something this September 11, 2001.

And I mean, so many people, they've lost their lives.

And us here in Cornwall, the one person that we always think of is Rick Rescorla.

Now, Rick was born in Ale in 1939, but they said he was captivated by the American GIs when they moved into the area during World War II.

I think this was about 1943.
