If we feel that our language is lacking, look to see how repetition might push something forward.

Rick Moody talks about language as an engine, his short story, I think, Boys, and just the repetition of boys come into the house, da, da, da, da.

Just having a refrain, I think, is something that comes out of poetry, and it's something that I use at a number of different points in the book.

And it really, I think, it makes the story sing, to my mind.

each audience member to reflect.

So I was heavily inspired by Rick Moody's short story called Boys.

And it's about two twin boys that grow synonymously and congruently together as they reach these different phases and stages of life.

And what keeps moving them through the threshold of maturation is grief.

it's so funny because, like, I worked with folks who helped me come up with the titles for the season, but I never want that to be put on top of creatives, you know what I mean? Like, um, and so, you know, calling the season Elements of Harmony with the idea of all of these different things coming together to make something beautiful, like, That gives me the runway to say, hey, Rita is doing this really specific Rick Moody thing.
