Richard Wilford

Wilford's Law of Goal Difference.

Richard Wilford always says you can tell how good a side is by the goal difference.

West Ham, uh, top with plus 11, Southampton plus 10, Swansea plus nine.

Blues and Borough are actually fourth, tied for fourth at plus six.

But, um, we played Blues in the FA Cup back in January 2015, and, um, uh, I'm trying to think of his n- name now.

Um, well, it was BBC Radio WM, anyway, and it was Richard Wilford.

Right.

Richard Wilford, that's right, who was doing the morning show.

And Richie Anderson, remember when Richie Anderson-

Yeah

[laughs]

And but that was great because I then got to basically be in the car on long journeys with Richard Wilford, with Mike Taylor, with Rob Gurney, and I could learn from them in the car, and I'd be asking them questions.

And so that was great.

And then, um, once I'd done three seasons of Walsall commentaries, Tom Ross, uh, decided to give me an opportunity and, uh, yeah, you know all about working with Tom.

Okay.

Well, there you go.

So, um, Steve, uh, uh, WM, you're, you're sat in the back of the car with, uh, the, the, the WM, uh, hierarchy in Mike Taylor and Richard Wilford, Rob Gurney.

So presumably by osmosis you got your way into WM after, like, the, the sports-

Yeah.

Well, it's interesting because I did do a pre-match interview with Chris Davis a couple of weeks ago because Richard Wilford, our Blues reporter, couldn't go on that day.

So I went.

He was ahead of their game at Derby after Albion won in the week.

Very interesting.

Very interesting.

I'll tell Richard Wilford to tell Chris Davies.

But I suppose just moving on from that, Steve, if we're looking for reasons why last season we were underperforming our data, this season we're overperforming our data, I think we can give one clear fundamental reason.

I was stuck in the traffic jam for ages before I parked in the bush.

And Richard Wilford on Radio WM was hinting that there was going to be a surprise in the team.

So Masui wasn't playing with the under-21s last night.

And it was said that he's going to be in the squad today.
