Richard Muller

Uh, the word sacrament was used not directly in the Second London Confession of Faith, but in the writings of particular Baptists associated with that, uh, confession and that tradition.

But I think Richard Muller, in his, uh, work, The Dictionary of Latin and Greek Theological Terms, which I would commend to our listener, he, he helpfully says this, and I quote him.

He says, "Protestant orthodoxy therefore defines a sacrament as a sacred action instituted by God that employs an external sign or element to confer on and seal to believers by grace the promise of the gospel for remission of sins and life eternal." End quote.

Now, I realize that there are some little quibbles, uh, that various streams of the Reformed are gonna have with the word seal.
