And we're off and running to all these other aspects of the New Testament, fulfilling the old, the creation, the Exodus, the kingdom, the Passover especially.

Lo and behold, I'm reading a book by Richard Davidson, which is Typology in Scripture, And he is a Seventh-day Adventist, not in any way inclined to defend the Catholic faith, anti-Catholic, but he's intellectually honest and he's studying every use of the Greek word tupos in the New Testament, as well as entutupos, that is the archetype or the fulfillment of the type.

And he discovers that there are four levels, four ways of approaching this sort of thing.

Christ himself fulfills this, you know, in his own paschal mystery, I would say it that way.

And then the next line is Schreiner saying, yet I have a dream.

And so he acknowledges that scholarship has rejected the fourfold sense as a hopeless antique from the horror chest of the dark ages.

The literal sense has triumphed another quote our gut feeling is that allegory and biblical interpretation has been duly tried Convicted sentenced and hanged and that remains only as an object of scorn and horror but what if Shriners right? Explain Christ death and resurrection in terms of the fulfillment of the old and the new but I would say the law and the prophets What if you actually find the fourfold pattern that ends up leading us to the fourfold sense and even though the early church fathers interpret many Old Testament passages that the New Testament writers themselves never got around to All they're doing is just extending that paradigm, that pattern, what I call the Emmaus paradigm.

Ellen White notes that these collections from Gentile churches for Jewish believers were an expression of fellowship in ministering to the saints.

Richard Davidson makes the larger point that Christian unity is not something artificially created by an institution.

We are genuinely one body in Christ.

Paul wanted their offerings to say with actions what the gospel had already declared, Jew and Gentile are no longer us and them.
