Richard Hell

Like, he really goes through his, his journey from suburban life to, you know, moving to New York City and really not having much aims, and then kind of, like, falling into this musical scene and really being at the center of bands like The Ramones, Blondie, The Talking Heads.

Uh, Richard Hell appears in the book q- quite a bit.

Um, and there's some great stories about, like, stealing David Bowie's hubcaps, which was, I think, a very just, uh, prank.

If you read the book, you can hear what, uh, or read what, what, what Bowie did to him, which is kind of, kind of crazy.

Her dresses were destroyed and put back together to make garments held together with safety pins.

Oh, is, is this pre-Richard Hell?

But, you know, there's guys in the downtown scene from the 70s, Richard Hell and, you know, guys in bands who write great songs and everything.

These were just kids from the middle of nowhere trying to make people look at them, basically.

and joined television, Tom Verlaine's band, because Richard Hell had left.

And because he joined, he started the band called The Heartbreakers with Johnny Thunders from The Dolls who had broken up.

And so Fred did that.

Anyways, whatever.

The first band that I was in was called the Mildreds, and we tried to do a cover of some Richard Hell song that had, it was a Dimstar song that had two

chords.

Didn't you do a Link Wray song? Yeah, we did do.

The song Chinese Rocks is about two of them getting together to go into an area in New York, buy some illegal substance, and go home and use it.

And it was originally written by the one of the Ramones with a little bit of an addition from Richard Hell, from Richard Hell and the Void Voids.

And you'll hear different names, you know, and he'd say, you know, I called him on the phone and he said, hey, is Dee Dee home? You want to take a walk? You want to go cop? You want to go blah, blah, blah, blah.

And he said, Dee Dee, they would throw in a different name depending who was playing the song.

You heard Hugs from God featuring, I can't read the rest of that, but covering Huskeros makes no sense at all.

You have Committee of Sleep doing Richard Hell's Blank Generation, Church Party doing New Rose by The Damned, and Bramwell doing Born to Lose, of course, by Johnny Thunders.
