And just, again...

All these Reformed scholars that have just, Gerhardus Voss, Richard Gaffin, and a number of them have uncovered this sort of this central idea that the Spirit, when you're walking with the Spirit, you are walking with Jesus.

Hmm.

which is just amazing.

On this podcast, I'm having conversations with people who can help us to see more clearly the ways in which we see God working out his salvation purposes in the world, particularly in the pages of the Book of Acts.

And my guest today is Dr. Richard Gaffin, Jr. Dr. Gaffin is Emeritus Professor of Biblical and Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

where he taught for over 40 years until his retirement in 2010.

He now lives in the Washington, D.C. area.

Dr. Keene is Associate Professor of New Testament and Academic Dean at Reform Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., He has a great website with interesting articles called signandshadow.com.

And I love this subtitle, Tommy, Theology Seeking Eschatology.

And he was one of Dr. Gaffin's students at Westminster Theological Seminary.

So I just feel very privileged to be sitting here with both Dr. Gaffin and Dr. Keene.

We have had numerous and various interviews over the past year, ranging really from theologians like G.K. Beale and Richard Gaffin to seminary presidents and heads of parachurch organizations.

And this morning, I am very excited to have one of my very favorite people on the show, Ike Reeder.

Then Dick Gaffin said to me, "Okay, now that you've got this out of the way, you've got to translate Bavinck." I said, "Well, Dick, my Dutch isn't good enough to be the translator-

And that has a whole bunch of multiple dynamics in it.

And I am quoting Richard Gaffin from his book, By Faith, Not by Sight.

And he's reflecting on a really important New Testament theme.

But at that one, I think he's reflecting on 2 Corinthians 5, where Paul says, we are a new creation.

and the oldest passed away, and we, I don't even have a, I'm not quoting it right.

But I think, is it Romans, I mean, 2 Corinthians 5, 14, I'm guessing? Yeah.

And it took me two years of rereading that and studying scripture to believe Richard Gaffin, who was head of systematic and biblical theology at Westminster Seminary.

I was just astounded by it.

Yeah, that's helpful.

And I, I think I want to, and I, and I want the listeners and Westminster students as well to take full advantage of what the Lord has given us through Professor Murray, and I, I, I would include Dr. Gaffin in, in sort of the same category.

Wow.

In that his disposition and the character of his theological work, and in many ways, in my own participation in the ministry or contribution in the ministry of Westminster, I think often of the example of, of Dr. Gaffin, who I knew... who I know personally.

You know, Murray for me is almost a legendary figure, but Murray-- but, uh, Gaffin is much more sort of proximate to my own experience.

Um, and I think particularly today when we have online theology, we have social media culture, we have, um, Christian book publication.

Books are raining from the sky, and, and it, it's just difficult to-
