When I was here last time, the Libertarian Party was being controlled by a group of people who unilaterally attempted to change our entire organizational structure bylaws without notice of the member outside of convention through a state committee resolution.

And the Oregon Secretary of State would not get involved because they're not supposed to be involved in the internal governance process.

The National Party was involved.

It went to court.

A half a million dollars was spent.

Basically, it's an

And I'd been in that canyon probably 20 years ago, but I hadn't been there since.

Uh, so we, we went down into that canyon and started hiking back up, uh, the basin upstream.

The stream was on our left, and we were headed back up into the higher country.

And it's a long canyon.

Back in the pioneer days, there had been trails that went through there from the valley below.

We'd been hunting hard.

So what was your experience when the road was closed and you had fresh rocket that was in the ground and had to come out and had to get to roughly half of the country's population who live north of Tārāwhiti? What would you do?

Oh look it's a logistical nightmare for a start as long as the other roads are open you have to divert everything and go down through Napier and back up as your only option and if that has difficulty then you can't ship which is the case on many occasions but you know especially with fresh produce and a lot of businesses rely on being able to hit times and those sort of things so any change like that is really quite critical but You know, this isn't even about that.

This is about a region that's economic well-being is dictated by that road.

Because if you look at, you know, New Zealand's a country of roads.

Our freight issues that don't go on roads or our freight transport that don't go on roads is really non-existent compared to what does go on roads.

So while there's great investment in other roads in the country and they get better and better...

When you don't invest in these critical routes to a region like Te Rawhiti, then it only amplifies the non-competitive nature that a region like Te Rawhiti has.

How does the region do that?
