Rich Harrison

back to back before starting work on his second album, Future Sex Love Sounds.

For this album, he originally was going to work with Rich Harrison, the creator of Beyonce's Crazy in Love, as well as Rodney Jerkins.

Another Beyonce collaborator did the best songs on Writings on the Wall in his Destiny's Child album.

But then Justin Timberlake turns to Timbaland, with whom he had worked on probably his best ever track, the ridiculously gloriously over-the-top Cry Me a River.

Let's just say, like, hypothetically, right? Let's just say producers, like...

What if producers start producing whole albums on artists that they've produced, but really from the perspective of what they would have them do? All the fights and all the things that go back, like, what would a What would an album, I don't want to name any names, but let's just say, what if Rich Harrison? Let's just say Rich Harrison made an album on Beyonce.

You know what I'm saying? And he took the time to just make 14

songs.

And she was basically playing them off against each other to create their best work.

And so in one studio, she has Rich Harrison, the guy who made Crazy in Love.

Another one, she has Rodney Jerkins.

Another one, she has Sean Garrett, who had recently written Goodies for Sierra and run it for Chris Brown.

And then the other one is just sort of for whoever else she might like to get in, including Stargate, the Norwegian producers who had just written Rihanna's Unfaithful, and who we've talked about a lot recently.

And so for this track, Dark Child came up with doing what they called an old school track, a throwback with real bass and horns.

and this is why it's called deja vu this idea that it's like a deja vu of this sound i don't know how much credit they should get for this idea because somebody else had had an idea of doing sort of an old school track that was a throwback with real bass and horns now who was that oh yes it was beyonce wasn't it with crazy in love and you know not only crazy in love but then rich harrison who wrote crazy in love also has already ripped himself off and done that again with amory's one thing Although, to Dark Child's credit, unlike those two songs, the horns on Deja Vu are not sampled.

They are an original composition.

Had a song that, I think his name is Rich Harrison out of D.C.

But the beat for uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, that was supposed to be hers.
