Rhymefest

You love it when they fly.

And, uh, and Rhymefest opened up for him, so.

But both of those shows were in, like, more intimate venues.

Mm-hmm.

I know.

Like Rhymefest, track star.

[laughs] All right, I'm gonna play you some songs.

Okay.

West passed away suddenly in November 2007, but her legacy lives on through Ye and his childhood friends, the boys, now hip-hop legends, who made music in her living room.

One of which is Chicago school board member and rapper Chase Smith, also known as Rhymefest.

It's surreal.

He says this sign isn't just an anchor for the community.

Yeah.

Yeah, the ceremony sounds like it was well attended, including by her former mentee, rapper and CPS board member Chase Smith, also known as Rhymefest.

Let's hear him.

This is really a story about a woman who raised a community of boys, a woman who was an associate professor that raised up to be the dean of the education department at Chicago State University and is beloved by the whole city.

It's right down the street from the two-story blue house known as Donda's House, where Kanye grew up, his childhood home.

And that's where... you know, the college dropout was born essentially.

Um, but Dr. Che is one of the few, uh, mentees of Dr.

West who also was in that, that little blue house, um, making music, making beats, um, and calling Dr.

How

do you feel about Rhymefest being 41 on this list?

I mean, way too low, but at the same time, he doesn't have the albums.

How many albums does he have? Like one? After all this time? Yeah.

and putting out hits.

Rob Markman Kanye West is in a room and he's with Psy and he's with Rhymefest and he's with Pusha and he's with these guys, Q-Tip in the beginning of his career, Taleb Kweli, and these are incredible writers.

I would be a fool to not allow these guys to give the input on a song.

And if you got a verse that works, when I say it, it's a different verse.
