Um, and speaking of that author, Helen Yaffe, she has a fantastic book that I cannot recommend enough called We Are Cuba: How a Revolutionary People Have Survived in a Post-Soviet World.

So just briefly, um, you know, Cuba, it did have a, um, somewhat fraught relationship with the Soviet Union, but the bottom line is the Soviet Union was their biggest trading partner.

You know, they're under severe blockade, sanctions from the US, and so was the Soviet Union.
