So what does respite care involve here in Singapore? What are some options caregivers can consider?

So respite care is a very interesting thing where we always tell the caregiver, it's actually time for you to look at the respite.

So respite is basically a time where the caregiver can have a planned period of relief.

At the same time, their loved one is being cared for.

So I think looking at multiple ways to help out and to treat the patients with burnout, as opposed to just one way makes sense.

The other thing to mention, Ali, is respite care.

I don't know if you've heard of respite care.

I don't know.

Some people may say respite.

So they can deal with any sort of issue that comes up because they're so highly trained that parents feel very comfortable going for respite.

I have many, many patients who I follow who they go there once a month, like one weekend a month, the children are just there and they have that level of comfort.

So you can't, I think, discount how valuable something like respite care is.

The other thing I think about is we alluded to it before, but just to give it a chance to explain.

So when we talk about respite care, that is an opportunity to have post-operative care.

And that could be or take place even in a shelter that has designated nurses that can follow patients over time.

But you imagine they're not being secured housing upon discharge following any type of surgical procedure.

Sometimes that actually does play out to giving a patient the opportunity to participate in a colon prep so they can do a colonoscopy, for example.

But, you know, I imagine that after something like a partial renal resection or kidney removal, The amount of pain and capability of this individual to get up and meet their needs, whether that's food, whether that's a shower, what have you, that is a requirement for their any given day, that would have been so difficult had they not had that opportunity.

Oh, I just, first of all, I want to highlight that idea of respite care.

There's a lot of literature on respite care and hospital readmission rates that shows a drastic decrease in us.

But these moments of respite care aren't a cure.

They are meant to replete and restore just a little bandwidth so a person can strengthen themselves and maybe be a little more resolute in the face of what is happening to them.

Respite care isn't a one-off.

It is something that has to be done on a somewhat regular basis, even if it's just every couple of months.

When I think about what anyone needs when they are feeling broken down by a difficult caregiving situation, I recognize that this is something a person in a narcissistic relationship would also need.
