A man is in serious condition in hospital after an attempted murder in a Renfrewshire town.

Police were called to a report of a man being seriously injured after he was attacked on George Street in Paisley at around 8pm on Monday.

The 53-year-old was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

After a successful pilot scheme in the Highlands and Islands, the price cap on tickets has been extended to cover the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, or SPT, area.

All of Glasgow's main bus operators, including McGill's, Stagecoach, CityLink and McCall's, have signed up to the scheme, which covers the Glasgow, Ayrshire, Inverclyde, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Dumbartonshire areas.
