Renee Powell

I wanted to make sure I had equal men and women, so six men, six women.

Everybody from Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson to Annika, Nancy Lopez, Jan Stevenson, Dottie Pepper, Renee Powell, Ben Crenshaw, Padre Carrington, who I love, who's so brutally honest.

So I ended up doing the book during the pandemic.

I was able to do mostly Zoom interviews with all those personalities.

And I know Bob is, has several questions and I've already got two or three listeners questions in hand.

So we're going to, we're going to continue the interview as we go folks listening to Shasta Avery Hart, um, LPGA tour player, and now, uh, ambassador and influencer for golf and for clear blue clear view golf club and Renee Powell, uh, One of the most, I think, influential and one of the most wonderful women in golf I've ever known or interviewed.

We love Renee, as so many millions do.

But we're going to get right back to it, Shasta.

and so I had an opportunity to host and it was really fun I enjoyed it so I was like well maybe media might be something I want to do but I just knew that I am very structured and organized and I do like to create and I have pretty good writing skills so I was like let me bundle all that together and if it's media great let's explore that maybe we can do a little bit of learning how to sell because you know you make a lot of money when you learn how to sell and you can maybe Just somehow get that fear of rejection out of your system.

And so I did some like golf fundraising events and things like that just to kind of learn how do I get past the no and not feel like my ego is completely shot.

Isn't that wonderful? Now Shasta, when you look at your career and we're moving through that now, let's get up to speed on how you met became acquainted with, friends with, and now are working with Renee Powell from Clearview Golf Club.

Tell us how that all came to be.

So it might be someone from one of the turfgrass or irrigation companies.

that has been so instrumental in advancing golf course architecture and golf playability in its way, or a pioneer such as Renee Powell for everything that she and her family had done for golf.

Again, there are journalists that have won the award, including our own George Pepper, So, it just varies from year to year.

And in thinking about this one, you don't necessarily think of Jim Nance right off the bat and architecture, but this is as much for advancing golf as well as golf course architecture.
