Relationship between religion and science

Hello, I- I'm, uh, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., health secretary of the United States, but also a deeply religious man, a Catholic by nature, but a religious student of the world.

As many of you might not know, religion and science go hand-to-hand with each other, marching down the great walkway of humanity as they feed off of each other, one explaining the nature of the other.

Who knows which came first, the chicken or the botulism-infected egg? One might never know until we meet our maker.

It is my duty as the pr- as the head of the Health and Human Services, as instructed by our great religious leader, President Trump, to figure out how to work more religion into science.

This may be a good topic for us to talk about, about religion.

Well, it's funny that you mention this, Kyle, that this was your experience, because today's topic just happens to be religion and science.

Dr. Vic Counted is Associate Professor of Psychology, Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Regent University, and Program Director for the Abundant Life Flourishing group.

He is faculty affiliate of the Harvard University Human Flourishing program and a fellow at the International Society for Science and Religion.

Of this new matter the second chapter "Mathematics as an Element in the History of Thought" was delivered as a Lecture before the Mathematical Society of Brown University Providence, Rhode Island, and the twelfth chapter Religion and Science formed an address delivered in the Phillips Brooks House at Harvard and is to be published in the August number of the Atlantic Monthly of this year nineteen twenty five.

The tenth and eleventh chapters Abstraction and God are additions which now appear for the first time.

But the book represents one train of thought and the antecedent utilization of some of its contents is a subsidiary point.

There has been no occasion in the text to make detailed reference to Lloyd Morgan's Emergent Evolution or to Alexander's Space Time and Deity.

The theory of induction is 'the despair of philosophy,' and yet all our activities are based upon it.

Anyhow in criticising a mathematical conclusion as to a particular matter of fact the real difficulties consist in finding out the abstract assumptions involved and in estimating the evidence for their applicability to the particular case in hand.

It often happens therefore that in criticizing a learned book of applied mathematics —or a memoir once whole trouble is with the first chapter or even with the first page.

In the present chapter and in the immediately succeeding chapter we will forget the peculiar problems of modern science and will put ourselves at the standpoint of a dispassionate consideration of the nature of things antecedently to any special investigation into their details.

Such a standpoint is termed metaphysical.

Accordingly those readers who find metaphysics, even in two slight chapters, irksome, will do well to proceed at once to the chapter on religion and science which resumes the topic of the impact of science on modern thought.

These metaphysical chapters are purely descriptive.
