Rehavam Ze'evi

I'll just say one thing that I can relate to this memory very much.

I remember as a teenager, I remember Gandhi, Rehavam Zehevi, talking about transfer.

And as someone who grew up within the Zionist left, what I used to call Zionist left, and many still do, That was something really, the really far, far, far crazy ideas.

They became normal today.

[swish sound] "It's time to admit it, Gandhi was right." That is a quote from National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who said last week as he announced a Gaza immigration plan for all the jihadis in Gaza as part of his election campaign.

He was talking about Rehavam Gandhi Ze'evi, the Israeli general who said decades ago what polite Israel still tries not to say, "This conflict is not solved by fences, cash, or another day-after fantasy next door to a jihadi Muslim population." For years, that idea was treated as unspeakable.

Then came the invasion massacre of October 7th.

Simchat Torah, October 7th should have ended the lie that Israel can withdraw from land, build a smarter wall, send in Qatari money, and live next to a society that looks upon Muhammad, a mass murderer, a hero, teaching its children that murdering Jews is holy and achieves martyrdom.

Um, but he also, uh, referenced, uh, uh, Rahavam Zevi, who was an Israeli lawmaker.

Uh, his nickname was Gandhi because apparently he looks like Gandhi or something.

I don't know, but he was assassinated in 2001, but he was known for calling for the cleansing, not just of Gaza, but also of the West bank, um, saying that they, all the Palestinians have to be removed.

Um, And this is what Ben-Gavir said, quote, what a shame they didn't listen to Gandhi.

It's time to admit it.

Gandhi was right, end quote.

And again, this should be top news.

This is a government that the U.S. very strongly supports.
