It's not like that was exactly a foreign occurrence.

We know that these perceptions of crime issues had a big impact and influence even going back to the federal election last year, etc., especially in York Region and in Brampton, I think.

So I would say these issues are not going to be ducked.

I think it's interesting to have Lisa kind of take the mayor's mandate away from her because I looked at the results of the election and Olivia Chow just won an exceedingly impressive result that deep into various parts of the city.

You can come through, you can have a scary experience or a not-so-scary experience, and when you come here, you can make a donation to a very good cause.

Yes, it's something that's very near and dear to our hearts, the Special Olympics Ontario, York Region.

It goes towards the athletes that compete in games all over Canada, really all the way up to the national level like they just did in Calgary this past August.

So excited to check it out.

So we have Special Olympics coaches and parents.

We have some wonderfully accomplished athletes here.

And we also have Tammy, who is a proud part of the Special Olympics Ontario York Region chapter.

And you're partly responsible for putting this big display together.

And the interview is more of just kind of reminiscing.

We're both York Region kids.

So as you all know, he grew up in Newmarket.

And I moved to Maple.

I was still very young.

I was eight years old when I moved to Maple and spent most of my time there before moving back to the city.

And when I was first getting started in the industry at Rogers Cable York Region, we used to do a junior hockey game of the week.

And it was always the New Market Hurricanes versus, you know, whoever, right? Aurora Tigers, Horn Hill Thunderbirds, you name it.

So that's, you know, hopefully that answers the question, but that's what population health and population health management mean to me.

So how does that look in New York region and South Simcoe?

Well, you mentioned earlier some of the research that I've done before when I think about systems and structures.

A big part of what I've done over my career is to look internationally, to look at other places in the world and try to learn from what we can do there.

We are absolutely building it as we go because as you can imagine, every neighbourhood is different and therefore every solution for every neighbourhood will have to be different.

But the concept should be the same that we're there to get to know and support everyone without exception in each neighbourhood.

Yeah, perhaps on a smaller basis, as you know, CHATS has been very active in York Region with the establishment of naturally occurring retirement community programs in some neighbourhoods.

And that's really what we're trying to do on that smaller level is understand people in the buildings In our case, we're working in specific buildings, although the NORC model could also work in a neighborhood or a community.

And then that kind of freed up some time and space for me to really focus on what I felt that would, that I excelled at.

And I had more joy from, which was, um, you know, I basically went on a media and speaking tour and, um, you know, I spoke everywhere and I, I had a course at the learning annex at the time I had a, um, a column in a publication in the Toronto area called the York region business times, which it no longer exists, but at the time it was quite large.

And I had 800 to a thousand words every single month front or back cover, which is like major real estate space, you know, like that's a lot.

So I did that for four years and I was writing also for three other publications and I did a book and I, And I was out doing media appearances as well in the PR space.
