Reggie Willits

So that was pretty cool to see that.

It, it was funny talking with, you know, Reggie Willits and his son there.

Uh, Jack, who's, Jackson who's with the organization.

I saw, uh, Tim Salmon's nephew, Jack, was out there, and then, uh, Big Mac's son.

It had everything to do with the chaos that was being created.

Um, and what sold me was Skip Johnson and Reggie Willits.

I mean, you guys were in a super regional and they flew down or flew back or dr- drove back, either or, to Norman to show me around, and that just said a lot about, like-

Wow

He moved up to double A right at the end of the year, spent the last several games in Double A. I wonder whether you remember his father.

Reggie Willits.

Reggie Willits, yes.

Do you know what he did? Well, he played for the Angels, but he coached for the New York Yankees for almost a decade.

That's right.

I think part of this might just be he's pitched a lot of innings, and so let's not overwork him, and these are kind of unnecessary, right? But he has looked really good when he was out there.

Wade Meckler showing up and being the spark plug, being the Reggie Willits or the David Eckstein for this lineup, right? And then Tyler Heinemann being a good catcher.

behind the dish, and then Nolan Shanawell hitting his floor, like setting the standard for what he could potentially be.

That was actually really great to see this season.

So you have to identify what your program does.

Like, so if you're Reggie Willits at Oklahoma, like you're looking for a specific type of player.

If you're Max Wiener, who's the pitching coach at Texas, you're looking for, so you have to identify what it is that you want.

But I do think the best teams have local buy-in.
