Reggie Watts

A man your mother might have warned you and or your sister about.

I'm talking about Reggie Watts.

A man who, despite what you think of him or what your definition of great music is, made just that, great music.

Unlike that music you heard at the top of the show.

I played you that loop because I Can't Afford the Rights to Choose in Texas by Ella Langley.

And why would I play you that specific slice of Everything's Bigger in Texas Cheese Could I Afford It? Because that was the number one song in America on March 28th, 2026.

And that was the day that Reggie Watts' ex-girlfriend, Catherine McCullough, died by suicide, setting off an investigation into the musician-slash-comedian's treatment and alleged abuse.

Abuse allegations that Reggie strongly denies.

Coming next week here in Hollywoodland on Monday, our fully scripted and sound design episode from the archive all about Jane Mansfield and her surprising relationship with the founder of the Church of Satan, Anton LaVey.

Coming next week in Disgraceland, Jake's got this story about Reggie Watts, a shocking story which broke only recently in the news.

And Jake kind of like shuffled around our programming in the immediate future here in order to cover this story while it was still fresh and relevant.

So that's going to be a wild, wild episode.

If what they're saying about Jared Leto is true, it is truly fucking evil.

It is truly dark what Reggie Watts is accused of having done to his now deceased ex-girlfriend.

There's a long list of musicians, especially in Disgraceland.

Big Lurch, Michael Allig, who we had in the archive in the rewind slot last week.

I think you're going to dig that as well.

Anyways, those are coming up this weekend.

Next week, our episode on Reggie Watts.

Can you believe it? Is that true? Is that when that's happening? I have to double check.

ever i i too want to be in l.a and work for will ferrell

she says at 38 years old currently yeah exactly um and i just thought you know what i think it is i just had this like feeling so i left uh i was making a show with reggie watts at the time for new york one and And he had just gotten a Google deal in L.A. or whatever, anywhere.

But he just gotten a Google deal to make a YouTube channel with Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Reggie Watts, Tim and Eric called Josh.

And they had no employees.

And he was like, I know a girl who I just like made this web series with about like selling instruments on Craigslist.

She's also appeared on The Affair, Mr.

Robot and in several short films with Reggie Watts.

So as you can imagine, we dive deep and we cover a lot, and we chat about the theater of the oppressed, Polaris and X-Men 97, his Spanglo Saxon, plus Morgan's mask, the voice acting community, me being a professional ice cream taster, Comic-Cons and conventions, celebrating the wins, moving to LA, heartbreak, rejection, trying stand up as her characters, plus so much more.

Before we get into this epic chat, I'd love it if you would share the podcast around, like, comment, subscribe, you know the drill.

Yeah

... for one, the only person I know, I know who has been rocking heavily with Reggie Watts throughout these past few years.

Number two, he's always like, "Man, I don't like to get political, but I need to say something about this." And he just has the worst opinion I've ever heard in my entire life.

[laughs]

And occasionally there were people, there were other people, you know, fired up, but it's just this, it goes by the way of the next story.

It's like, okay, and then Reggie Watts did something, and so and so.

And, and it gets, it disappears until they start posting again, which they will.

Yeah.

Also, there are a bunch of straight men who kinda ruined all of the progress that were made.

David Harbour, Reggie Watts.

There are a couple of straight men who really, they keep fucking up the stuff that ...

Straight people were getting closer.
