Reggae on the River

I drove all the way to like Humboldt County, which was so crazy.

Wait, speaking of, do you remember when we went to Sonoma that there was a thing called Reggae on the River in Garberville? Do you ever remember hearing about that? Right.

Okay.

I remember.

So that was like kind of like the takeout point for the trailhead for take, like at the end of the trail or whatever.

So we ended up staying there and like dad was there waiting for us to like pick us up and everything.

So I like drove all the way to Garberville and it was like reggae on the river like that weekend.

And I was like, Oh my God, I totally forgot about this.

Reggae music is a music that was generated from love.

We'll hear highlights of the intergenerational experience from this year's Reggae on the River, which attendees say is a joyful act of resistance.

You know, the Native Americans are the only people that have to prove their bloodline.

And so if you don't have proof of your indigenous blood through the enrollment and the federal books that keep the numbers, then you are not getting that enrollment number.

Even farmers not facing cuts are struggling to plan what to plant and how much due to the uncertainty.

Climate change is reducing snowpack and water supplies and 10 reservoirs across the country are at their lowest in 30 years.

Since its inception in 1984, some half million people have made their way to Humboldt County for the annual Reggae on the River Festival.

It started off as a fundraiser to rebuild the Mateel Community Center, which was destroyed by a fire and has grown into what organizers describe as a fusion of Northern California's cannabis culture and Jamaican reggae music.
