Redux

We use and leverage Expo modules quite a bit, as well as our own native modules.

React Navigation with our own implementation for some of our own use cases, as well as Redux, Persisting State, GraphQL with Apollo, and a shared component library and design system.

We also have a few implementations using reanimated Skia filament for some of the more complex animations in the app.

Can you describe some unique challenges you all encountered while developing your app using React Native?

My guest today is Dan Abramov, one of the most recognizable names in front-end ecosystem.

He's the co-creator of Redux, spent nearly a decade on the React core team at Meta, where he shaped how millions of developers are building user interface, and is the author of one of the most read front-end blogs over React.

He also spent a couple of years as an engineer at Blue Sky working on the app and the ad proto protocol, the open decentralized foundation the network is built on.

And that's what we're here to talk about today.

And like the VIT team in the end changed their minds.

Like if they changed their minds in the first year, that could have happened but they changed their minds in like third or fourth year and like now it's you know it's bundling but yeah like it's a bit too late for like i don't know if now it's feasible to kind of revamp it all and we'll see i don't know like i think i think like turbo pack is getting better but i'm also frustrated that this is how everything unrolled i wish you know i wish like wheat was better like earlier and kind of more convincing to build upon

And you've been such a big part of the React community from the start with Redux and everything.

Where do you see React going from here? Are you happy where React is at the moment? What's your take on what other frameworks are doing now with like fine grain reactivity and stuff like that? Do you think React is missing some stuff?

It's funny because

MobX, I think, technically... was like the first releases of it were actually a few weeks before Redux came out back in 2015.

So MobX has been around for a while.

MobX 7 is primarily a cleanup and modernization release.

I mean, I've, I've had my own thoughts.

Like I, I have no plans to stop open source work anytime soon.

In fact, I've actually got, like I said, we said last month, I'm trying to push through a big new React Redux feature and I've got a bunch of plans for what will hopefully turn into our next set of major version releases.

But you know, purely mathematically.
