Redbone Coonhound

Uh, I started out as a real young kid and, and, uh, I'll never forget my neighbor had some dogs, and I'm not sure what kind they was.

They looked like little miniature Redbones.

But, uh, I was around seven, eight years old at that time, and I remember those dogs getting treed off in the woods.

And I had an old pump-up pellet gun, and that just sparked my interest, so I grabbed that pellet gun and went down there, and I hit a, a dadgum groundhog tree.

So I wound up hunting all of them except for the Plott.

And I didn't never have a Plott, so I wound up raising and training quite a few different dogs.

Uh, I've had Redbones, I've had the Blue Tick and the English and black and tan and the Walker dogs.

Uh, I've had a couple of Leopard dogs back in the day, you know, which, uh, and hunted them for a while.

And our girls, Rita and Sadie, that's, those are, those are our girls.

So she's a Redbone Coonhound for somebody that just asked.

So I'm trying to get her to jump up here.

She wants this treat that's in my hand, but she won't jump up.

And, uh, so I went years and just forgot about it.

Well, s- soon after I joined the Wampus Cat team, I'm talking to Chuck, and I told Chuck, I said, "Man, I'm, I'm really aggravated about the lack of information out there in the Redbone breed." He's like, "What do you mean?" I said, "Well, I've learned some things from you, but, like, other than a random, you know, Facebook post [clears throat] or a U- you know, a UKC, I can find an old UKC forum, couple of guys talking about, like, Aftershock for example." That's, that's a dog that I really like a lot.

But there wasn't, there wasn't a lot of detailed information, and I'm a very detail-oriented guy.

Anybody that knows me, you know, knows I'm like that.

I'm preaching verse by verse and we're in chapter 15.

I'm, [laughs] I'm a detail-oriented guy, and I couldn't find a lot of details.

I found little snippets of some older Redbones and stuff, but I couldn't find details.

And I, I've seen a lot of chatter on social media about how horrible Redbones are and how pathetic they are, and I've never hunted with a good one, and I've never seen one with ghost power.
