Red Rain

So what is it like...

You know, Peter's had a lot of great drummers over the years, including you, but what do you do when you have a song like Red Rain? Now, on that song I think Jer-

So you have three drummers plus a producer.

Yeah.

And I remember re- rehearsing for the, for the tour, and we reached that, you know, Red Rain.

Yeah.

So I don't...

And Peter Gabriel kind of has gone on to, in interviews, question whether Fripp really spent the amount of time that he needed to spend on certain songs.

He says... really just the first track and then White Shadow are the only tracks that Gabriel really feels like Fripp spent enough time on the synthesizer sound and I just think there's a really interesting element to the friction that maybe they had as they worked together in the artist and producer standpoint here but you know you still get this you know I mean pretty incredible album that's definitely stands the test of time i i personally hear kind of on the back half of this uh album i hear like bruce springsteen and the east street band so i'm pro i'm probably gonna catch hell for saying that but that's what i kind of get out of it when we get into the flip side

There could be a little of that there.

I will say, though, I read recently a quote by Peter regarding his next album.

And we'll cover that when we get there.

But ultimately, the quote was related to wanting to get away from the experimentation, right? That he had played around with tone and, you know, the core aspects of what makes a sound a sound enough, right? He wanted to start writing serious pop songs, albeit on his own terms.

And that kind of stands out to me when I hear things about, well, really when we pay attention to the production style on this album.
