This week, Stephen Cherry spoke with Marcus Walker, who founded the campaign.

Five years ago, Marcus Walker, Rector of St. Bartholomew the Great in the City of London, set up the Save the Parish campaign.

I'm Stephen Cherry, former parish priest, cathedral canon and college dean, and I'm intrigued by the campaign.

So I sat down with Marcus in the vestry of his church to find out what the issues are and to dig a little deeper into the theology that's behind the concerns.

I'm Stephen Cherry, and the producer was Neil Koenig.

It is a book entitled Pardon and Peace, written by Nicholas Frayling.

I knew Nick Frayling when he was the Dean of Chichester, but before that he was the Rector of Liverpool, a city whose rich mix of population includes a large number of Roman Catholics and people of Irish descent.

While he was the city rector, he spent a good deal of time in conversation both in Liverpool and in Northern Ireland with individuals and groups on both sides of the sectarian divide.

As a result of these conversations, he was firmly of the opinion that only expressions of heartfelt contrition for all that had gone before Only forgiveness for the offences of the past could bring peace to the troubled and divided community of Northern Ireland.
