I think largely my practice is still word of mouth.
Trevor BornGUEST

We do have patients come in 'cause of Google, 'cause of RealSelf, because of an Instagram post, and I think social media is great for information for patients to learn about what we do, and obviously it's, it's made a huge impact on the demand of what we do.
Trevor BornGUEST

Lauren HarrisHOST
4:46
I don't know how common it is now, it's massive in America, but just to give you a little bit of insight from working in this industry, it's not always true.
Lauren HarrisHOST

On that website people can be paid to write reviews, surgeons can pay to be bumped up, and reviews can be deleted, so that for me isn't a source of somewhere that I would always use.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:17
Um, I've been planning on doing that.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:19
I've actually started a document so people know, but you can't trust RealSelf, and you can't trust, like, all these Google review pages either.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:26
I think the best way of finding a surgeon is through people that you know.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:31
Yeah.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:31
I think so.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:32
Yeah, but the people that you've been to ha- haven't been good.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:35
That's what I'm saying 'cause I, I went off RealSelf or reviews online- Yeah ... which I shouldn't have.
Anna and Mandi VakiliHOST
13:41
Yeah.

Ben BrooksHOST

And everybody has this glamorous Instagram profile.
FarnazGUEST

You go on RealSelf, and there are all these great reviews, so it becomes very difficult to tease out.
FarnazGUEST
5:39
And you hear from people, mutual friends, mutual friends of mutual friends who've gone to so and so, and, and you kind of feel the vibe for that.

And myself, I went onto the California Medical Board, made sure that there were no negative findings of this surgeon that I was going to.
Sarah ArronGUEST
30:47
A lot of my initial consultation may be me talking about different treatments, but I'm also watching for cues.
Sarah ArronGUEST
30:54
Is my patient very aesthetic literate because they've been on Instagram, they've been on TikTok, they've been reading about this on RealSelf or Reddit, and they know a lot of the treatments I'm talking about? Or are they literally brand new walking in learning about things as I am telling them? Are they someone who's busy and working? Or are they someone who's retired and has a little more time potential flexibility for downtime? Are they someone who's going to need a lot of handholding, someone who has some anxiety around procedures? Or do they feel pretty comfortable, pretty ready to try, jump in with two feet.
Sarah ArronGUEST
31:31
I like to say that's really less about the treatment and more about the patient.
Sarah ArronGUEST
31:37
Oftentimes, if I see in a consultation my patient's eyes kind of glazing over, they're getting overwhelmed, I will tell them, look, tell me the thing that bothers you the most.
