Reading readiness

I don't think we would've done that, unless-

She says, "Is there a genuine benefit to delaying formal reading instruction until age six, especially if the child is demonstrating reading readiness? Should I be doing phonics and letter recognition to prepare him, or is it better to begin teaching him how to read now before kindergarten starts?"
