Reading F.C.

It was actually the home of one of my first, well, not one of my first, my first ever away game as well.

We're going down to Reading.

on Tuesday to play in the League Cup.

And we, I tell you something, we haven't played in for quite a while, so we thought we need to go down to chat to Ben from the Tilehurst End podcast, because he knows everything about Reading.

Ben, how are you?

Lovely introduction, mate.

So, like I said to you, we have fondness, you know, so sometimes you've got to be careful what you ask for as well.

And also, like I said to you, we've been chatting to you for years, all the characters, the Wim and Sim.

yeah it definitely didn't feel like one of those losses where you think, oh, you know, the fun stopped and that was a little flash in the pan before and now we're back to what we were before.

It's an interesting feeling for a Reading fan of late, but even after they equalised, I was like, no, we'll probably get a winner here.

And then when they went ahead, I thought, no, we'll bring this back.

Right up to 90 minutes, like there wasn't like a... giving up moment for me because you know they were still trying still making chances and it didn't click yesterday but you know sometimes that will happen I have to accept it but I thought it was a good performance

But, I mean, obviously, if you're a Cambridge fan, you're saying, no, that's just pure skills.

He's meant that all the time.

And especially for Bennett, he would have enjoyed that because he was getting dogs abuse in the first half from serving with the Reading fans.

So, yeah, I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed that.

St Andrews against Birmingham was just so brilliant to watch.

And the Redding game coming up, we'll talk about it in a bit, but it's going to be a huge away following, which I'm really looking forward to.

It's going to be a big night out.

So yeah, and I sense a cup run.

Don't forget, I'm a UEFA licensed football coach.

So I coached football for a number of years here, both at Arsenal and Reading Football Club.

That was a part of my life.

I only returned to cricket because I was concerned that my path in professional football as a coach changed.

And course finished after three months.

We've been a separate whiz.

And about another two or three months later, I received a call from him and he said, Roland, I've just been appointed as Academy Director at Reading Football Club and I would like you to come and work with me.

So obviously by that time I was really into the football because you don't do a UEFA licensed football course unless you want to be a serious football coach.

Reading are treading confidently.
