Ray Liotta

On December 11, 1978, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and an assorted crew of character actors robbed the Lufthansa cargo terminal at JFK Airport, made off with $5 million in cash, $800 grand in jewelry.

Lead protagonist Ray Liotta skipped the robbery to go home and take a shower for some reason, but he was in on the action.

For the rest of their lives, the perpetrators would hear that Layla Piano Coda every time they walked out the door.

Great heist, guys.

Gift.

And our gift today is not Ray Liotta.

For you, our gift will be what you just ranked the number one in our blind food chain, and that is Anthony Rizzo putting the ball in his pocket.

Your face on Anthony Rizzo's face is going to be your new cell phone cover, just for a little bit.

He is just luxuriating in the monstrousness of this dude.

And the only thing that makes me sad about it, apart from me just not loving Dennis Quaid, is that the person who could have played it was Ray Liotta.

Yeah, I had no idea about that.

Was he actually cast?

He was, and he died before they started filming.

I don't know.

On the one hand, I would love to see the Ray Liotta version of this.

On the other hand, Quaid is so perfectly loathsome in the role that it's kind of hard for me to see anyone improving on that performance.

What I think, and I come back to something wild every few years because I always just, it always delights me and there's always something new to look at in it.

And I watched it again recently and I was struck by like, in the years since I saw it, because of course I saw it in the 80s when I was a teenager and of course I fell in love with Melanie Griffith's performance in that and It was the first time I ever noticed Ray Liotta, right? Before he became a star in Goodfellas.

And it's just a movie that... you know what clicked for me and watching it as i got older was like that it's also channeling some of that energy of screwball comedies um like old screwball comedies from the um 30s 40s um where you have this sort of anarchic um the female protagonist and a sort of, you know, buttoned up, um, male, uh, romantic, um, pair and just sort of see what happens.

And so that's, that's really what happens here.

That doesn't belong to me.

Oh, but my favorite guy was definitely Eddie Marzen, which like because I love that one Ray Liotta show and he was in it.

And he always plays the same character, man.

Shady guy, shady, connected guy, man.

I love, I've always had a man crush on Joe Pesci.

Goodfellas, you know, he's going on and on with Ray Liotta where he's going, you think I'm a clown? I am usual.

I won't use as colorful.

Yes.

Joe Pesci are both being the same character pretty much in both of them.

Goodfellas is Ray Liotta? Ray Liotta's in Goodfellas, and he

is talking about it's based on a true story.

Yeah.

It was like Sly

Stallone and Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro and Robert Patrick.

Edie Falco, a lot of people in that movie.

Number two, Air Force One.
