Gareth HallHOST
25:00
Saran, I reckon we take him on.
Gareth HallHOST
25:02
And for Jar, Ray Dawson.
Gareth HallHOST
25:04
I've read a few articles on Ray.
Gareth HallHOST
25:05
What a man he is.
Ben AsgariGUEST
1:37
Now, what he's got to overcome is that tricky draw.
Ben AsgariGUEST
1:40
He's got to tick the box at 2,400, and he's got to go from... wet to dry now we know a dry track's no issue for him but just two weeks off a really brutal race on heavy ground so there's a few things against him but there's a pretty big positive in the sense that he's the best horse in the race and he's got a very good informed jockey in the saddle so the answer is probably a pineapple it's just whether you want to take Take the price or not, and I guess plenty over in Western Australia will be.
Matt GrubelichHOST
2:08
Yeah, with that wide barrier, is it going to be difficult as well coming down the straight? Because it's not as long of a straight like it would be at Flemington.
Ben AsgariGUEST
2:16
It's all just depending on how the race sets up.
Ben AsgariGUEST
4:49
The market will tell you that.
Ben AsgariGUEST
4:50
In terms of other horses I could back in the race, there's two... leading internationals in MFJAR and Wyanduck Sea, of those two, MFJAR's a bigger price, and I think he's probably a better chance.
Ben AsgariGUEST
5:04
You're probably getting a better price about MFJAR because he's got his regular jockey, Ray Dawson, coming down for his first ride in Australia, as opposed to Wyanduck Sea, who's got an absolute gun in Damien Lane in the saddle.
Ben AsgariGUEST
5:16
I just think MFJAR might be the sharper horse, a little bit more progressive, got a better turn of foot, and he's drawn a better gait, so...
Trav NoonanHOST
40:59
He's there at eleven dollars.
Trav NoonanHOST
41:00
Nine, Royal Supremacy, at eleven dollars, and seven, Emfaar, another one of the internationals here for Roger Varian and Ray Dawson, winner of the Glorious Stakes at Goodwood at Group Three level his last start.
Trav NoonanHOST
41:11
He's there at eleven dollars from gate one.
Trav NoonanHOST
41:13
Looking down the page, if there's anything here who's been specced at a price, the horse who has had a bit of love is Knight's Choice, the Melbourne Cup winner from twenty twenty-four.
Mark HunterPANELIST
43:35
Uh, look Ensar led last time.
Mark HunterPANELIST
43:38
They don't go hard early, so it can be a little bit misleading.
Mark HunterPANELIST
43:40
But I'm sure Ray Dawson will be coming out revving, trying to get En-Ensar to lead and dictate.
Mark HunterPANELIST
43:46
Uh, Royal Supremacy likes to lead.
Mark HunterPANELIST
2:08
They don't go hard early, so it can be a little bit misleading.
Mark HunterPANELIST
2:11
But I'm sure Ray Dawson will be coming out revving, trying to get En-Enfujjar to lead and dictate.
Mark HunterPANELIST
2:16
Uh, Royal Supremacy likes to lead.
Mark HunterPANELIST
2:19
It missed the kick in last year's Cup, settled out the back.
Ben AsgariGUEST
12:49
I think it hinders him a f- a fair bit.
Ben AsgariGUEST
12:51
Um, we know he's got the right man to overcome wide draws in, and you know, one of the best jockeys when it comes to getting back in the field with, in Willie Pike.
Ben AsgariGUEST
13:02
So I think he'll be back.
Ben AsgariGUEST
13:04
That's gonna be the issue.
David TaggartHOST
17:25
I, I think this European brings the f- the good form.
David TaggartHOST
17:27
Ray Dawson, he's a, he's a, um, sort of the, the, the number two rider for a lot of the stables back i- in Great Britain.
David TaggartHOST
17:36
Uh, and, uh, I don't know.
David TaggartHOST
17:40
I, I, I think there's gonna be good pace on in the race, too, and he'll just sit off him.
Michael FelgateHOST
32:06
Always a debate this time of year, Ed, when we get the international fly-in jockeys compared to using our locals.
Michael FelgateHOST
32:13
Ray Dawson's obviously Roger's rider over in the UK, but barrier one, never seen Caulfield.
Michael FelgateHOST
32:20
His first ride will be in the Cup.
Michael FelgateHOST
32:22
And then I must admit, I was a little surprised.
Dean EvansHOST
27:25
All righty.
Dean EvansHOST
27:26
Enthrouj, Roger Varian, Ray Dawson's drawn barrier one on the market around between $11 and $13.
Dean EvansHOST
27:34
Uh, quite a few profiling factors here for you, Adam, on Enthrouj.
Adam HenwoodGUEST
27:39
Yeah.
Dean EvansHOST
28:55
What do you think now with drawing barrier one?
Luke MurrellGUEST
28:58
He had to draw one to six to be that chance, and he's done that.
Luke MurrellGUEST
29:01
Um, it-- You know, people are gonna pot Ray Dawson.
Luke MurrellGUEST
29:04
He's just a good tradesman, but he's not gonna get an opportunity to get lost, um, obviously because he'll be dictated to from that gate.
Carl Di IorioGUEST
4:27
Enfajar, he'll be probably midfield buried on the rail.
Carl Di IorioGUEST
4:31
Is that good for him? Ray Dawson is going to have a little bit of a task, probably trying to find the clean passage over the final 800 metres, I'd say.
Michael FelgateHOST
4:39
A little surprised that they've decided to accept with Treasure at the moment.
Michael FelgateHOST
4:42
She's now got a good gate from gate five.
Nick LuckHOST
24:37
Um, who's gonna ride, Roger?
Roger VarianGUEST
24:39
Uh, Ray Dawson's gone out to ride.
Roger VarianGUEST
24:41
He's, he's, he's on, on route now, and, um, he'll probably get there in time just to have a sit on him Thursday morning.
Nick LuckHOST
24:48
Rock Montreal was very good last week in the Autumn Stakes.
Nick LuckHOST
27:30
All right.
Nick LuckHOST
27:30
That was Roger Varian with something to look forward to this weekend, certainly in the shape of Enfidha and next year with, with Rock Montreal.
Nick LuckHOST
27:37
Uh, Enfidha in the Caulfield Cup, Ray Dawson, that's a, that's an exciting opportunity for him, Lee.
Lee MottersheadPANELIST
27:42
It is, and Roger Varian has been a massive supporter, um, of Ray Dawson this season.
