Ray Cooper

Daniel Linoy was born in 1951, visionary, and we do mean visionary, Canadian record producer and musician who helped to shape the arena rock sounds of the late 20th century by producing multi-platinum albums for U2, Peter Gabriel, and Bob Dylan, among many others.

And then there's Ray Cooper, who was born in 1947 and is one of my favorite drummers of all time.

Technically, he is an English master percussionist.

He's been on everything.

Wow.

And he sang Benny and the Jets with all of his old band, you know, all the old guys, Nigel Olsen, Ray Cooper, Dean Murray, David Johnson.

Sad I know them all, isn't it? But he played Benny and the Jets for 11 minutes.

Wow.

That guy was everywhere.

I love seeing Ray Cooper play the tambourine.

He plays it with such

So, yeah, that was just really humbling getting to hang out with Elton's touring band.

People like Ray Cooper, his percussionist.

Yeah.

Elton and Ray Cooper, they've got like a duo album they did touring Russia, I think, something like that.

Okay.

Back in the 70s or 80s.

Um, Moments like that are really meaningful and cool to me and they can just be really small, subtle moments.

Then a bigger cool moment would be, it wasn't necessarily like after a performance, but just as part of the Elton John tour and hanging around talking to the band members.
