Rattenkrieg

[dramatic music] Last time we spoke about the Rattenkrieg of Stalingrad.

German Commander von Manstein launched a major counteroffensive against the Soviet Second Shock Army near Leningrad as weather improved on September the twenty-first.

The Soviets attempted to counterattack, but suffered from critical command delays.

It goes from room to room, cellar to cellar, even down into the sewers.

And, and the Germans give it a name that sticks, a Rattenkrieg, the war of rats.

Tell us about that.

It was a vicious, terrible battle.
