And sometimes management will, again, to my point, will trade some of these guys that they think are expendable, but actually they're integral parts to some part of what makes the whole machine go.

Yeah, that's how I think...

That's how, that's how it was with us.

Um, you know, we had a great group of guys.

Were they fan favorites? No.

You know, we all weren't fan favorites.

I think, to be honest, during that whole time, the biggest, the biggest names or the guys that had the most accolades on the team was, uh, Pip, Sabonis, and Damon.

[chuckles] Yeah.

Why don't you share, why don't you share the story for some people that might not have heard it?

All right, all right.

(laughs) So, so here I am, I'm, I'm a rookie and Joe Klein, um, went to the University of Arkansas.

That's my guy.

Ended up being my teammate later on in my career.

But, so here it is, I'm a rookie, he's playing for Phoenix.

So we're out in Phoenix and I'm like, "All right, bet." Playing them, and it's a certain play that, uh, Jimmy Linehan ran where, um, the big man gets the lob for the dunk.

Winning championships.

But why do you feel it's important to give back to a community that gave you so much?

Yeah, it's still fucked up in Flint, to be honest.

I'll say it.

No sense nobody else do.

But um, it's what I grew up with, man.

Um, it's what I grew up with.

You know, it was, it was crazy that the day that I took my family and my friends up there from North Carolina, from Philly, ran into, um, a organization called New Era Detroit.

Mm.

But as a big man, can you really put into perspective, like, the special type of season that we are seeing from him right now? Just, like, and how hard it is to kind of put some of the stat lines up? Can you put, like, a meat and potatoes perspective of, like, what he's doing right now as a big man in this modern game?

Um, I see, I see him making a dent in the game the same way that Shaq did.

You know, when, when Shaq first came to the league, and, you know, he was breaking backboards, rims, the whole back supports and all of that stuff.

But he was a figure, he was a monster.

And, you know, he had that force with him.

And with, to me, with Joker, um, Joker he's not necessarily as physical, uh, or monstrous as Shaq was, but hi- the skill set is there, you know? He, he can pass, he can shoot, uh, put it on the floor good enough to get to the basket.

And he's, I think what makes him a great player for real, for real, in my opinion, is the fact that he's unselfish.You know, he is like, look, and I don't know him personally, never met him, but just from watching him play, you can see that it's like, all right.
