Ranville

Three of the gliders will attack the bridge over the Caen Canal at Benneville.

The other three will attack the bridge over the River Orne at Ranville.

The Caen Canal gliders need specific modifications.

These three fly right-handed turns.

Two officers and 14 soldiers are wounded.

The sixth glider lands at the wrong bridge over the river Dives, some seven miles away.

Its platoon captures that bridge and fights its way back towards Ranville.

At about 0300, the 7th Parachute Battalion relieves the force at the two bridges.
