And I hadn't really, like, I was in music not really like that as much as I am now at that point.

And I was like, I'm just going to stay over here at this stage for William Clark Green instead of, like, going over to the other stage and seeing Randy Rogers.

And William Clark Green came out, and, like, I knew every single song.

And I was like, wait, am I a bigger William Clark Green fan than I thought? And so over the course of time, I started realizing that his Ringling Road album, I won that fucking album out.

But that year got me out there because in one day, for $100, I paid $100, I saw Them Dirty Roses,

The Red Clay Strays, Jamie Lynn Wilson, Cody Canada and the Departed, William Clark Green,

Randy Rogers Band, and the Turnpike Troubadours.

Damn.

Uh, I don't remember the first one I learned.

I remember the first one that I sang in front of my parents and that was Randy Rogers, the lost and found real slow, uh, sad song.

And I remember singing that one for him right here in the kitchen, I think.

And yeah, that was, uh, yeah, I'd never sang any before that.

Um, And when I got into junior high, probably, I found a good friend of ours, Leslie Askew.

She introduced me to Ryan Bingham and found him and just obviously fell in love with all of his stuff.

And from him, I found... guess it probably would have been going straight into like Randy Rogers and stuff in early high school, you know, and, uh, found William Clark green after that.

And I went to, man, I bet I've been to 30 or 40 William Clark green shows over high school and college.

But for the most part, everybody's super welcoming.

You know, like Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, like those guys, like idols of mine growing up because in Texas growing up there, you know, every word to every song.

And so like the first time playing shows with both those guys, super nice to us.

Same thing with like Coe and Parker McCollum.

But that's another funny thing about kind of growing up and getting out of Texas and learning about the other scenes.

It's like...

You go places and you realize people outside didn't grow up listening to Ragweed or Randy Rogers or Turnpike.

It's like, oh, wow, I thought this was popular everywhere.

And the best part about it is, of course, Guy Clark recorded the song.

And then over the years, it's been recorded by Margo Price recently, Vince Gill, Jack Ingram, Randy and Wade.

And to this day, so many people come up to me and go, did you know that Randy Rogers wrote a song about it? You know,

absolutely, he did.
